The GPSMAP 76 gives you a clear picture of where you are on the map, along with cities, highways, lakes and much more. GPSMAP 76 also accepts up to 8 MB of download data from optional MapSource CD-ROMs for even greater detail. You'll see it all on the GPSMAP 76 large, high resolution display.

The GPSMAP 76 is designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). The GPSMAP 76 features a built-in quad helix antenna for superior reception and can provide position accuracy to less than three meters when receiving WAAS corrections.

The GPSMAP 76 has an internal memory capacity of eight megabytes. In addition, the GPSMAP 76 comes with a built-in basemap of cities, coastlines, lakes, rivers, interstates, and interstate exit information and a database of nautical navaids. The GPSMAP 76 has eight megabytes of internal user memory for storing optional MapSource— detailed maps, including marine cartography. This memory is preloaded from the factory with worldwide cities (populations greater than 200,000) and nautical navigation aids such as lights, buoys, sound signals and day beacons. The GPSMAP 76 is also preloaded with tide data for the United States.

The GPSMAP 76 provides an extra-large display measuring 1.6"W x 2.2"H gives users a clear view of information, while a waterproof case means the GPSMAP 76 will keep working well even if it's been submerged in water. Even more amazing, The GPSMAP 76 will actually float if accidentally dropped in the water.

MapSource™ CDs provide high level detail of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps, topography and more. A PC Interface cable is enclosed with each GPSMAP 76 to allow you to download MapSource™ CD Data between your PC and GPSMAP 76. MapSource™ software also allows you to view color maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions for easy map browsing. Users can then select individual maps in areas of interest and transfer the maps the GPSMAP 76 or other compatible GPS.

Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that contains many smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you can make a map set. This map set can then be transferred to your GARMIN GPS, which allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic areas you wish to view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car, your map set might only need to include those maps that are along your intended driving route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the extent of the mapping coverage.

Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your GARMIN GPS and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure, business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your house.
